Link Art Center Launches Refresh, a New Italian Art Initiative

The Link Art Center, a Brescia-based association exploring art, technology, and society since 2011, has announced Refresh, a new project focusing on emerging Italian artistic languages. Following Collect the WWWorld (2011), curated by Domenico Quaranta, which toured globally addressing image appropriation in the Internet age, Refresh will unfold as a series of exhibitions across multiple venues with different curators. The initiative aims to survey the contemporary landscape, identifying the most innovative works produced between the late 1990s and today. The first exhibition, Refresh01 – #Layers, curated by Fabio Paris, opens October 22 at Spazio Contemporanea in Brescia. It features twelve Italian artists exploring digital language complexity, including distinctions between code and interface in generative and glitch art, synthetic image layers, temporal stratification in archives, and boundaries between public/private, material/immaterial, visible/invisible. A bilingual (Italian/English) catalog will be published at the exhibition's close.
