Linehouse completes Ink Ink Market in Shanghai with translucent PTFE facade
Linehouse, an architecture firm, has just completed the Ink Ink Market, a three-story food hub located in Shanghai, China. Spanning 1,790 square meters, the building boasts a unique sloping facade made of translucent PTFE plastic screens, echoing the city's classic laneway style with its slanted roofs and chimney windows. This facade not only protects the entrance piazza and shades the upper balconies but also offers glimpses into the market's interior. Inside, a light-filled atrium connects all levels, while the ground floor serves as a versatile market hall, complemented by kiosks and permanent shops. The upper two floors host larger dining establishments, with elegantly designed bathrooms featuring Carrera marble mosaics. Founded in 2013 by Alex Mok and Briar Hickling, Linehouse has gained recognition for its innovative designs, including various Asian food markets.
