Linea Festival Brings Art and Technology to Ruvo di Puglia

festival-fair · 2026-05-04

The Apulia Center for Art and Technology, founded in July 2018 under the PIN initiative by the Youth Policies of the Puglia Region and ARTI, funded by ESF – PO Puglia 2014/2020 Action 8.4 and the Fund for Development and Cohesion, launches Linea Festival in Ruvo di Puglia from April 25 to 27, 2019. The center, led by visual artist Valentina Tanni with an under-30 staff, aims to fill gaps in Puglia's art infrastructure through residencies, training, and a network of local and international artists. The festival features works spanning photography, performance, audiovideo installations, videomapping, and multimedia art, using technologies like Oculus Rift, 3D, and videomapping. Notable artists include Dom Barra (dirty new media art) and Kanaka (videomapping). The center also revived the historical "Premio Città di Ruvo" as the "Apulia Center for Art and Technology" award, in collaboration with Pro Loco Ruvo di Puglia U.N.P.L.I., to honor an artist and a speaker. Previous activities include a residency by Portuguese artist Carlos Campos, resulting in the installation "Stratificazione" at Ruvo Cathedral, and the transformation of a former barbershop into DO, a bar for unconventional art dialogue. A second residency for under-35 Apulian artists is planned for June 2019.
