Lindsay Pollock appointed Editor-in-Chief of Art in America by Brant Publications
Brant Publications has named Lindsay Pollock as the new Editor-in-Chief of Art in America, representing the third leadership transition in just over three years. Pollock, who has been an art market journalist with Bloomberg News since 2005, takes over from Marcia Vetrocq, who followed Elizabeth C. (Betsy) Baker. Baker led the magazine for 34 years until her termination in 2008, which coincided with Peter Brant regaining ownership of Brant Publications. While Baker emphasized contemporary art in New York City, Vetrocq brought in more interviews. David Cohen from artcritical.com suggested that Pollock's appointment might indicate a shift towards a market-oriented strategy, differing from Artforum's avant-garde emphasis and Art News's trade focus.
