Linda McCartney's Polaroid Diaries Published by Taschen

Taschen has released "Linda McCartney. The Polaroid Diaries," a monumental edition compiling Linda McCartney's instant photographs from the early 1970s to the late 1990s. The book, edited by Ekow Eshun and Reuel Golden, offers an intimate look at her family life with Paul McCartney and their children Mary, Stella, and James, as well as scenes from their country estates in Scotland and Sussex, still lifes, and animals. Linda, who married Paul in 1969, was a photographer before her marriage, known for portraits of rock icons like the Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, and Bob Dylan. She later became a musician with Wings and an animal rights activist, publishing vegetarian cookbooks. The Polaroid format's technical limitations enhance the relaxed, confidential aura of the images. A concurrent exhibition, "Linda McCartney Retrospective" at Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum in Glasgow, ran for six months and closed on January 12, 2020. Linda died of breast cancer in 1998 at age 56. The book follows the 2015 volume "Linda McCartney. Life in Photographs."
