Linda Carrara transforms Milan garage into immersive forest
At The Open Box, a non-profit garage art space in Milan, Linda Carrara presents 'La prima passeggiata', a site-specific installation that recreates a forest landscape. The exhibition, curated by Martina Lolli, features a painted canvas of a vague view over the Adda river, flanked by two oak beams recovered from a 17th-century noble house, painted in faux antique marble on the back. The beams, placed asymmetrically, evoke tree trunks and create shifting perspectives for viewers. The white floor, originally pristine, now bears traces of visitors' footsteps. The show has been extended until February 28, 2022. Carrara describes the work as an invitation for viewers to immerse themselves in a memory-triggering landscape. The installation transforms the white cube into a metaphysical portal, especially at night when internal lights illuminate the space.
