architecture-design · 2026-04-24

Lina Ghotmeh, an architect originally from Lebanon and now based in Paris, has been selected to create the 22nd Serpentine Pavilion, set to debut in June 2023 outside the Serpentine Gallery in London’s Hyde Park. This annual project, which began in 2000, has showcased works by notable designers such as Zaha Hadid, Frida Escobedo, Diébédo Francis Kéré, and Theaster Gates. Ghotmeh’s design, named À Table, features a circular timber form with a low ceiling and a central oculus, resembling petals. It focuses on sustainability through the use of low-carbon recycled glass and responsibly sourced timber. Drawing inspiration from nature and communal spaces, it is intended for diverse activities. Ghotmeh is an alumnus of the American University of Beirut and the École Spéciale d'Architecture, co-founding DGT in 2005 before launching her studio in 2016.
