Lin Zhipeng's 'Free Love Chronicles' Opens in Milan

Chinese photographer Lin Zhipeng, also known as 223, presents his solo exhibition 'Free Love Chronicles' at Glenda Cinquegrana Art Consulting in Milan, curated by Rebecca Delmenico. The show features 25 photographs spanning different years, including recent works, marking a decade since his first Italian exhibition. Lin Zhipeng (born 1979 in Guangdong) gained international recognition since 2003 through his blog North Latitude 23, where he posted images with texts. His work focuses on the body and sexuality, employing irony in a lyrical and playful manner. His models are mostly Chinese friends or acquaintances discovered online, and his photography is deeply influenced by Eastern visual culture, with strong ties to nature, water as a regenerative force, and ripe fruits on naked bodies evoking sex. One notable work, 'Amour defendu, Unorthodox desires' (2023), depicts a melted ice cream on a head in Paris. The exhibition can be read as an intimate diary reflecting a generation born in the 1980s-1990s choosing a freer lifestyle within a conservative social context. The title suggests themes of love and freedom, escaping the ugliness of the world and time.
