Limbo: New Milan Gallery Opens for Young Artists

On February 27, 2025, Limbo, a new contemporary art gallery founded by AnniWu (born 1994), opens at Via Rosolino Pilo 14 in Milan's Porta Venezia district. After seven years at Sotheby's Italia, most recently as Head of Contemporary Discovery Online Sale, Wu launches her own space dedicated to young artists, focusing on tensions and contradictions of the contemporary. The gallery occupies the former premises of Case Chiuse by Paola Clerico and later the Palma project by artist Gabriele De Santis. Wu chose the area for its proximity to her home and its community of artisans and framers. The space, spanning ground floor and basement, features four-meter-high ceilings that curve like a photographic limbo, inspiring the gallery's name. Limbo's inaugural group show, "Falene" (Moths), curated by Zoe Deluca, explores dark ecology and sci-fi themes, featuring painter Ludovica Anversa ("veiled radiographies"), sculptor Leilei Wu (3D-printed dystopian works), and sculptor Federico Arani (ceramic sculptures and found-object interventions). Wu emphasizes that the gallery will address ecology and technology, avoiding self-referential or purely stylistic works, and aims to be a space for reflection and transformation rather than purely commercial pursuits.
