Liliane Tomasko: Two Major European Exhibitions Explore Memory, Architecture, and Abstraction
This autumn, Swiss artist Liliane Tomasko is highlighted in two simultaneous exhibitions. The Ludwig Museum in Koblenz hosts 'Bridge', a retrospective illustrating her artistic journey over 25 years, featuring her transition from early domestic scenes to contemporary abstract pieces, from 30 August to 1 November. Meanwhile, 'Les songes de la trame' opens on 16 September at Le Corbusier’s Couvent Sainte-Marie de La Tourette near Lyon, running until 18 November, and includes approximately thirty paintings created between 2019 and 2026. Tomasko's art, influenced by her experiences in the monastery, features abstract works inspired by images of folded napkins. Her significant pieces range from 'Bed I' (c. 2000) to the 'Shapeshifter' series, which began in 2024. Born in Zurich in 1967, she earned her Master's degree in 1998.
