Like A Little Disaster: Curatorial Collective Founded in 2014
Like A Little Disaster (L.A.L.D.) is a curatorial collective founded in 2014 by Giuseppe Pinto and Paolo Modugno. After an initial nomadic phase, since March 2016 most of its activities have taken place at Foothold, a project space in Polignano a Mare, near Bari. 'Foothold' is a climbing term meaning a temporary but secure foothold. The collective investigates the loss of individuality-uniqueness through constant communication with the Other, viewing the self as existing only as part of a larger group. They explore the concept of multiple co-existing truths without hierarchy, influenced by techno-animism and the scientific hypothesis of the multiverse. Their curatorial practice embraces doubt and uncertainty, aiming to break standard exhibition experiences and allow visitors maximum freedom. The collective's approach was exemplified in the exhibition 'Risky attachments' (December 2017–February 2018) at Foothold.
