Light Lens Lab Recreates Dallmeyer Super Six 50mm f/1.9 Lens

other · 2026-05-04

Light Lens Lab has announced the 50mm f/1.9 'Rigid-ZS6,' a recreation of the historic Dallmeyer Super Six 50mm f/1.9 lens. The new lens uses a rigid design instead of the original's retractable barrel, integrating the optical formula into the company's unified mechanical platform. It is available in standard and low-contrast versions, the latter emphasizing the original's film-like tonal response. The lens features a double-Gaussian configuration with six elements in four groups, aperture range f/1.9 to f/22, and is optimized for digital cameras with improved center sharpness while preserving the distinctive swirly bokeh and color rendition. The brass chrome version costs $799 in the US, shipping from May 31. Light Lens Lab also has two other rigid-series lenses (50mm f/2 'Rigid' and 50mm f/2 'Rigid-SPII') and is developing two more (50mm f/1.9 'S5' and 50mm f/2 Apochromat). Another company, Dallmeyer Optics, has also remade this lens, though availability is unclear.
