Light Art Installation 'Incanto di Luci' Illuminates Rome's Orto Botanico

The Orto Botanico di Roma, nestled in the Villa Corsini park (once home to Queen Christina of Sweden), is illuminated by Incanto di Luci, an international light art event. Local partners Silvia and Mauro Dorigo of Be.It Events, also curators of the Taste culinary festivals, describe it as an unprecedented event that creates an enchanted microcosm through nature ahead of the Christmas holidays. Works by light designer Andreas Boehlke are paired with melodies by composer and sound designer Burkhard Fincke, enveloping the park in a fairy-tale dimension. Visitors pass through the Porta delle Meraviglie, leaving urban chaos behind to wander among ancient trees and glowing palms on the Viale dei Rami Scintillanti, then encounter the Cattedrale di Luce and the Fate degli Alberi. The display uses thousands of eco-sustainable LED lights. The route ends at the sparkling Rondò di Natale, with decorated trees, illuminated packages, and a large Santa Claus sleigh. Simultaneously, 18 cities in six countries—including Paris, Barcelona, Berlin, Frankfurt, Dresden, and Windsor—have also lit up as a sign of hope for a better world. The event runs from November 19, 2022, to January 8, 2023, at Largo Caterina di Svezia 23/A, Rome.
