Life Magazine to relaunch in print after 17 years

publication · 2026-04-26

Life Magazine, the iconic American publication that ran from 1883 to 2007, is being revived in print by Bedford Media, the holding company of model Karlie Kloss and her husband Joshua Kushner. The deal with current owner Dotdash Meredith grants Bedford Media rights to print and digital distribution for an undisclosed sum. Kloss will serve as CEO, overseeing editorial strategy and media operations, while Kushner takes the role of publisher. Dotdash Meredith retains ownership of the Life photo archive and will continue to publish occasional special issues. The relaunch will include a significant audiovisual component to attract younger audiences. Life's photo archive, built from 1936 onward after Henry Luce's acquisition, contains over 10 million photographs from 120,000 reportages, including Robert Capa's D-Day coverage. The magazine was originally weekly until 1972, then published irregularly until its final print issue in 2000. Dotdash Meredith acquired Life in 2021.
