Liechtenstein's Mini Mobile Pavilion at Venice Biennale

exhibition · 2026-04-27

Liechtenstein presents a mobile pavilion at the Venice Biennale: a 90x90x90 cm box containing 28 miniature works by artists from the principality, organized by Visarte Liechtenstein. The pavilion travels with Minister of Culture Manuel Frick to visit other national pavilions, such as Namibia and Montenegro, or opens up as a square in the Giardini. This sustainable, anti-gigantism gesture plays with Liechtenstein's small size and promotes peace and networking. Artists include Manfred Naesher (1973), Lilian Hasler (Arau, 1960), and Karin Ospelt (1989). The presentation at Hotel Bauer also highlighted the new direction of Kunstmuseum Liechtenstein under director Letizia Ragaglia, formerly of Museion Bolzano. Ragaglia announced two major projects: a May exhibition titled "C(to the power of)4" featuring Nazgol Ansarinia, Mercedes Azpilicueta, Diamond Stingily, and Italian duo Invernomuto; and a September show of German photographer Candida Höfer, in collaboration with Hilti Art Foundation. Ragaglia emphasized the importance of collections for museums' future sustainability and announced that the first exhibition will integrate collection works into four solo shows.
