Lidl and Nik Bentel Studio Launch Trolley Bag Shopping Cart Purse

other · 2026-04-26

German supermarket chain Lidl has partnered again with New York-based designer Nikolas Gregory Bentel and his Nik Bentel Studio for a limited-edition Trolley Bag, unveiled during the Lidl Fresh Drop event on February 20-21, 2026, at the D'Arblay store in Soho, New York. The bag is a stainless steel shopping cart basket with a chain strap, yellow-blue handle, and a small keychain charm, designed to be worn as an accessory rather than for practical use. It was not for sale but could be won via a fruit-themed slot machine; remaining units will be raffled on the Nik Bentel Studio website on February 26 at 10 AM. This follows their 2024 collaboration on The Croissant Handbag, a leather mini bag shaped like a croissant in a paper bag, which sold out quickly. Bentel's studio also produces other food-inspired accessories like the Spaghetti Clutch and Pasta Bag (vegan leather with UV print, priced $275–$320), as well as the Orb Bag inspired by Dupin cyclides, Ball Harp musical instruments, Floppy Disk Wallets, and The Capitalism Knife (a platinum-plated knife shaped like a credit card, around $70). The studio, composed of five people (Dan, Diana, Gene, Mara, and Nik), blends irony, vintage aesthetics, and commentary on consumerism.
