Libero Cinema in Libera Terra goes online for 15th edition

The itinerant anti-mafia film festival Libero Cinema in Libera Terra, promoted by Cinemovel and Libera, moves online for its 15th edition from July 14 to 16, 2020, on MYmovies. The festival features a new logo and format, including the talk series 'Diritti al nuovo mondo: Libero Cinema incontra' hosted by Enrico Fontana. Opening night focuses on Don Ciotti discussing educational poverty. Subsequent evenings cover Latin America and Africa with live connections. Films include 'La nostra strada' by Li Donni, 'Il sale della terra' by Wim Wenders, and 'Appena apro gli occhi: un canto per la libertà' by Leyla Bouzid. From September 14 to 20, the festival returns to physical locations across Italy, visiting confiscated properties in Lombardy, Tuscany, Campania, Puglia, Calabria, and Sicily. The program includes films by Michael Glawogger, Monika Willi, Raúl de la Fuente, Damian Nenow, Gianfranco Rosi, Andrea Paco Mariani, Sofia Luvara, and Daniele Vicari. The festival also engages 1,500 students through the 'Schermi in Classe' project, selected by MIUR and MiBACT as a best practice for the National Cinema Plan for Schools. During lockdown, 10,000 students participated in free screenings with virtual discussions with directors Davide Barletti, Davide Ferrario, Daniele Gaglianone, and Daniele Vicari.
