LGA Architectural Partners' The Belle Pavilion Opens in Toronto Park
LGA Architectural Partners has unveiled The Belle, a versatile pavilion spanning 120 square meters, located in Mabelle Park within Toronto's Etobicoke area, set to open in the fall of 2025. This bell-shaped edifice is adorned with shimmering aluminium tiles and features peaked roofs with square skylights that illuminate its vaulted ceilings. The structure consists of two rectangular rooms that can either be merged or separated, complemented by an accordion glass wall leading to a sheltered porch. Inside the bathroom, a floral mosaic by Afghan Canadian artist Shaheer Zazai enhances the space. Developed in partnership with nonprofit Mabelle Arts, this project aims to serve a densely populated residential community of seven slab-style towers in a low-income neighborhood. Founded in 1989 by Janna Levitt and Dean Goodman, LGA designed the pavilion to act as a community landmark visible from nearby balconies. The subdued interior color scheme supports arts initiatives, while a custom lighting system made from readily available materials ensures uniform brightness.
