Lex Pott's Transformable PS 2026 Lamp Debuts for IKEA at Milan Design Week

Dutch designer Lex Pott has created the PS 2026 Lamp for IKEA's latest PS Collection, unveiled during Milan design week from 20 to 26 April 2026. The floor lamp features a patented 45-degree hinge system that allows it to transform from an uplight into a reading light or spotlight. Pott developed the concept while experimenting with broomsticks in his Rotterdam studio, creating a prototype that evolved into a geometric design with a trumpet-form shade and cone-shaped base. The lamp is part of a 35-piece collection, priced at €39.99, and available in three colors: light butter yellow, cobalt blue, and Bordeaux red. Pott described the brief as focusing on "playful functionality" and minimalism without being boring, aiming for democratic design accessible to many. He presented around 70 ideas before settling on this multifunctional piece, which he hopes avoids being gimmicky. The designer emphasized his hands-on approach, stating he's not a computer designer, and that the lamp's interactive nature helps users form emotional connections with it. This marks the 10th PS Collection since the first launched in 1995 under the Democratic Design concept.
