Leung Chi Wo presents video installation at ArtReview Live bar night exploring cultural misunderstandings
Hong Kong artist Leung Chi Wo presented excerpts from his 2012 video installation 'So I don’t really know sometimes if it’s because of culture' at the 7th edition of ArtReview Live. The work originated from conversations between the artist and two Moroccan women residing in Hong Kong—one born in Morocco, the other in France. Commissioned for the Marrakech Biennale, the installation explores themes of 'in-between' cultures and the poetics of misunderstanding. Following the presentation, ArtReview’s Helen Sumpter moderated an informal Q&A session with the artist. The event also celebrated the publication of Leung Chi Wo’s book documenting the project and the Spring/Summer issue of ArtReview Asia. Themed cocktails designed by Absolut were served, including the Absolut CitronLime JuiceSugar Syrup, SodaRosemary & Lime and Absolut Marrakesh. The Absolut CitronLemon JuiceSugar SyrupFresh Mint cocktail was also available.
