LeumApp: augmented reality brings Leumann workers' village history to life

digital · 2026-04-26

Set to debut in April 2025, LeumApp will allow users to delve into the history of the Leumann workers' village located in Collegno, near Turin, using augmented reality. Constructed between 1875 and 1907 by Pietro Fenoglio for employees of Napoleone Leumann's cotton mill, this Liberty-style complex encompasses approximately 60 buildings across more than 70,000 square meters. Following the mill's closure in the 1970s, it transitioned to municipal ownership, accommodating around 100 families. The site is under the protection of the Soprintendenza Archeologica Arti e Paesaggio del Piemonte, with ongoing renovations. As part of the V.O.C.A.LE project, the app will feature multimedia content focusing on art, sustainability, and history. A preview exhibition at Polo del '900 in Turin is open until January 11.
