Letizia Cariello's 'Chirone' Installation at Buildingbox in Milan

exhibition · 2026-04-27

Buildingbox, the street-facing window of Building Gallery in Milan, hosts 'Calendario – Nous', a solo exhibition by Italian artist Letizia Cariello, curated by Annette Hofmann. The project, titled 'Chirone', is the first in a series of site-specific interventions running until December 23, 2022. Inspired by the constellation of the same name, the installation features two steel discs, white wool, and farrier nails set against a background painted with blue and red pigments and a phosphorescent coating that glows in the dark. Visible from the street 24/7, the box transforms at night into a planetarium with moon-bright walls. Cariello describes the work as a 'door' connecting inner and outer space, where photoluminescent walls interact with wool and steel discs to evoke cyclical movement and gravitational pull. The artist, known for exploring time, boundaries, and invisible relationships, aims to absorb viewers into an 'other' space of energetic exchange.
