Letizia Battaglia to Direct New International Photography Center in Palermo

Letizia Battaglia has been appointed director of the newly established Centro Internazionale di Fotografia in Palermo, as announced on Facebook. The center will be located in Pavilion 18 of the Cantieri Culturali alla Zisa, recently restored by the city. Battaglia, a renowned photojournalist, has advocated for such a space for years. The official presentation is expected in early April, with programming to begin in September. Battaglia will serve as director without compensation. Palermo is also set to host Manifesta and serve as Italian Capital of Culture.
