LETIA's Golden Architecture Installation Transforms Milan's GAM Through Time and Music
LETIA – Letizia Cariello presents her monumental site-specific installation 'Παρνασσός Parnassus' at Milan's Galleria d'Arte Moderna from April 14 to July 5, 2026. Occupying the Sala del Parnaso within Villa Reale, this golden aluminum structure engages in direct dialogue with Andrea Appiani's 1811 fresco of Apollo and the Muses. The artist transforms the Italian Neoclassical space into a habitable skeleton she describes as a thin house or interior greenhouse. Three pairs of rotating circular calendars perform the passage of days, while a globe constructed from resonance wood and serigraphed wallpaper contains dried roses from the museum's gardens. A deliberately oversized tassel introduces intentional imbalance. Music functions as a structural component, with vibration connecting architecture to sound. On May 21, Le Dimore del Quartetto will perform works by Mozart and Beethoven within the installation, allowing notes to alter perception of light and materials. The exhibition marks a significant institutional milestone for Cariello in her home city, open Tuesday through Sunday from 10:00 to 17:30.
