Leslie Wayne Exhibitions Span Multiple New York Galleries with Paint Rag Works

exhibition · 2026-04-23

Leslie Wayne's artistic practice centers on the studio environment, which she directly references in her paintings. Her work is characterized by vivid density and colorful materiality, exemplified by recent pieces she describes as "paint rags." These wall-hung works are constructed from numerous layers of paint. Multiple concurrent and recent exhibitions showcase her output across New York City. "Free Experience" was presented at Jack Shainman Gallery from September 7 to October 21, 2017. Her debut New York solo exhibition, "Alien/Alieno," is currently on view at Sepia Eye through June 25. Another show runs at Theodore: Art until October 7. An exhibition at the Derfner Judaica Museum continues through January 7. Her work is also featured at Tibor de Nagy Gallery through July 28 and at the CUE Foundation until April 5. Wayne participated in a group show curated by Stephen Maine and Gelah Penn at the Borough of Manhattan Community College. A recent exhibition at Franklin Street Works explored painting's dialogue with video, sculpture, performance, and sound. The artist also penned a eulogy for her dealer, a co-founder of Jack Shainman Gallery.
