Leopardi Inspires Art Exhibition Cycle in Recanati

A cycle of exhibitions in Recanati explores Giacomo Leopardi's influence on art. The first show, "Interminati spazi e sovrumani silenzi," features Giovanni Anselmo and Michelangelo Pistoletto with 1960s installations reimagined for the venue. Pistoletto surrounds his "Metrocubo d'infinito" with mirrors, projecting infinite reflections, while Anselmo uses graphite drawings, a blurred slide projection of "infinito," and a clear "particolare" to explore human finitude. A second exhibition, "La fuggevole bellezza. Da Giuseppe De Nittis a Pellizza da Volpedo," covers modern painting from the late 19th century to the 1920s, linking Impressionist nature scenes to Leopardi's themes. Works by De Nittis, Zoccatelli, Nomellini, Longoni, Romano, Damaso Bianchi, and Pellizza da Volpedo are included, with verses by Montale, Neruda, and D'Annunzio alongside artworks. A woodcut by Bruno da Osimo of "L'Infinito" marks the centenary of Leopardi's death.
