Leonora Carrington Biopic 'Leonora in the Morning Light' to Premiere in UK and Ireland

The upcoming biopic 'Leonora in the Morning Light' explores the life and artistry of Surrealist figure Leonora Carrington (1917-2011). Directed by Thor Klein and Lena Vurma, this film is produced by Modern Films, known for its documentaries on Hilma af Klint and Jean-Michel Basquiat. Set in 1930s Paris, the narrative highlights Carrington's involvement with an avant-garde circle that included Max Ernst, Salvador Dalí, and André Breton. Following her escape to Spain during World War II, she eventually moved to Mexico. The film draws inspiration from a biographical novel by Elena Poniatowska and will be released on May 29 in the U.K. and Ireland, coinciding with a resurgence of interest in her work, especially her fantastical creations from a Spanish psychiatric hospital that were lost for 80 years.
