Leonor Fini and Stanislao Lepri Reunited in Venice Exhibition
Galleria Tommaso Calabro in Venice presents a dual exhibition of Leonor Fini (1907–1996) and Stanislao Lepri (1905–1980), two 20th-century rebels who shared a home and a surrealist vision. The show highlights their shared motifs—cats, angels, demons—and includes works such as Lepri's 'Le prestidigitateur' (1946). Fini, who appeared as a black angel at Carlos de Beisteguia's 1951 party at Palazzo Labia, is shown alongside Lepri, a former diplomat. The exhibition also features a site-specific installation by Giulio Polloniato (born 1996), 'Per sentito dire' (2025), presented by Neri Pagnan (NP ArtLab Srl) in the Pop (The Chapel) Up! space. The installation uses ceramics and sound to evoke a surrealist fairy tale. The gallery, which previously held monographic shows on both artists, integrates ephemera and memorabilia into a domestic, performative narrative.
