Leonardo Delogu on Walking, Performance, and Community at Festival Periferico

Leonardo Delogu (Narni, 1981), co-founder of DOM- with Valerio Sirna, discusses his artistic practice centered on walking as a means of exploring and re-semanticizing landscapes. Trained at Teatro Valdoca (2002) and influenced by Cesare Ronconi, Mariangela Gualtieri, Raffaella Giordano, and Claude Coldy, Delogu describes walking as a device for immersion and information gathering, used by DOM- for about eight years. He emphasizes 'delicatezza' (delicacy) as a posture for traversing territories, drawing on Judith Butler's ideas of transit as political action. At Festival Periferico, Delogu contributes to its foundational inquiry, now in its third year, by sharing his work and relating his poetics to the festival's themes. He recently participated in 'Half a House,' a five-day project at Festival Fabbrica Europa in Florence, held at Palazzina Ex-Fabbri in Parco delle Cascine, which aimed at horizontal collaboration between curators and artists. Delogu's research balances nomadism and stasis, but after seven years of outdoor work, he desires to return to the theater's interior. He sees the artist as an 'archaeologist of love,' recovering and reworking fragments to share.
