Leonardo da Vinci Retrospective at Louvre with Interactive Book

exhibition · 2026-04-27

The Louvre Museum in Paris has opened the largest retrospective ever dedicated to Leonardo da Vinci, featuring 120 works including paintings, drawings, manuscripts, and sculptures borrowed from institutions worldwide. The exhibition includes loans from the Royal Collection Trust, British Museum, National Gallery of London, Pinacoteca Vaticana, Biblioteca Ambrosiana of Milan, Gallerie dell'Accademia of Venice, Metropolitan Museum of New York, and Institut de France. A major highlight is the inclusion of the Vitruvian Man from the Gallerie dell'Accademia of Venice, which overcame legal hurdles to travel. For the first time, visitors can interact virtually with the Mona Lisa through a VR installation titled 'Mona Lisa Beyond the Glass.' Concurrently, Andrea Concas has published a book 'Leonardo da Vinci. 100 domande 150 risposte' (Mondadori Electa, 2019) that combines print with interactive digital content accessible via smartphone, including videos, images, quotes, and quizzes. The book serves as an alternative guide to the exhibition, organized by keywords. The retrospective also enriches the Louvre's own collection, which already holds masterpieces like the first version of the Virgin of the Rocks, Saint Anne, the Belle Ferronière (returned from Louvre Abu Dhabi), and Saint John the Baptist. The exhibition runs until February 24.
