Leonardo Baldini's Sacred Art Photographs with Disabled Models at Vatican
Over forty adults and children from the association 'Noi da Grandi' transformed into religious figures in ten photographs by Leonardo Baldini, recreating masterpieces of sacred art from the Renaissance to the 20th century. The exhibition, curated by Micol Forti and conceived by Adamo Antonacci of Stranemani International together with Silvia Garutti, was presented at the Vatican. Baldini, who has long worked with disability, created the sets from scratch to achieve maximum realism. The most challenging reconstruction was Antonio Ciseri's 'Trasporto di Cristo al sepolcro' due to its eight figures, requiring multiple shots and post-production. Gherardo delle Notti's 'Adorazione del Bambino' was shot in a private home with the infant's parents to create a loving atmosphere. Baldini's personal favorite is Lodovico Cardi's 'Ecce Homo,' which he calls the reproduction where he left the most heart. The project was inspired by reading the Gospels and the connection between Christ and disability.
