Lenz Fondazione's Hyperion at Festival Natura Dèi Teatri
Lenz Fondazione presented Hyperion, a performance-installation by Maria Federica Maestri and Francesco Pititto, at the Festival Natura Dèi Teatri in Parma. The work continues their exploration of Friedrich Hölderlin's poetry, following two previous visual and musical performances on his mythography. Hyperion tells the story of a young revolutionary who, after fighting against the Turks, is horrified by war and retreats into nature. The performance features actors Adriano Engelbrecht and Valentina Barbarini, with live electronic music by Paul Wirkus. A luminous circle projects a map of Athens and the Parthenon, which disintegrates during the show. The piece addresses the search for one's place in the world, using Hölderlin's verses to express love and loss. The final scene suggests a cyclical return to a new beginning.
