Lenka Clayton and Jon Rubin's Rotating Social Practice Project Circles Through Six New York Sites
The project '...circle through New York,' created by Lenka Clayton and Jon Rubin, is set to take place from March 1 to August 31 across six venues, as part of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum's Social Practice initiative. The participating locations include Jus Broadcasting, St Philip's church, the Frank Sinatra School of the Arts, Pet Resources, the Institute for the Study of the Ancient World, and the Guggenheim itself. Each month, contributions are showcased in various settings. At Jus Broadcasting, programming was influenced by Felix Gonzalez-Torres's artwork from 1991. A parrot named Pinkie was featured at both the Guggenheim and St Philip's. Reverend Chloe Breyer referred to it as 'the Guggenheim project,' which called for action and highlighted the importance of participant engagement and personal accountability in democratic artmaking.
