Leila Mirzakhani's Blue Meditation at La Nuova Pesa, Rome

At La Nuova Pesa gallery in Rome, an installation by Leila Mirzakhani (born Tehran, 1978; lives in Rome) greets visitors as part of a group show curated by Lea Mattarella. Mirzakhani's work focuses exclusively on blue and its variations, drawing from Persian roots and spiritual symbolism. Her visual alphabet emerges from sedimented memories, transforming past and present into an inner place. The artist describes her process as a meditative elaboration on the quality of each moment, a search in drawing to find the constant rhythm of breath, like the patience of making a mandala or listening to the ebb and flow of waves. The chiaroscuro dissolves into the white of the paper, and the texture of lines saturates surfaces. The exhibition runs at La Nuova Pesa in Rome.
