Leica Centennial Celebrations at Milan Design Week 2025

exhibition · 2026-04-26

Leica Camera celebrates its centenary at Milan Design Week 2025 with a dual exhibition at Leica Gallery Milano. An immersive installation by Mark Shipard traces the evolution of Leica cameras from the 1925 Series 0 by Oscar Barnack to the new M11 '100 Years of Leica' edition. One of only about 15 surviving Series 0 cameras, now worth millions, is displayed. The installation features photographs by Korda (Che Guevara), Elliott Erwitt (New York dogs), and Joel Meyerowitz (America). Simultaneously, a pop-up gallery presents 'Critical Minerals – Geography of Energy' by Davide Monteleone, winner of the 2024 Oscar Barnack Award, addressing environmental and labor abuses in the energy transition. Leica participates in Fuorisalone for the first time. Karin Rehn-Kaufmann, artistic director of Leica Galleries International, announced upcoming exhibitions: Gianni Berengo Gardin and Roselena Ramistella in autumn, and Leica's debut as a gallery at Unseen Amsterdam in September. Leica has applied for MIA Photo Fair as a gallery. The gallery also features a site-specific tape art piece 'Eye of the Century' by No Curves.
