Leica and Tiziano Demuro create photo project for miart 2023
Leica Camera Italia, in collaboration with Artribune, commissioned photographer and artist Tiziano Demuro (b. 1992) to create a photographic project for the miart fair in Milan, running April 14–16, 2023 at Fiera Milano. The project, titled 'Giving Power to the People,' focuses on the fair's jury and protagonists, highlighting Leica's commitment to supporting emerging talent. Demuro will produce a series of images capturing interactions between people, objects, and spaces, starting with a self-portrait taken with a Leica SL2 that conceals his face, emphasizing the camera as a Janus-like eye bridging past and future. The self-portrait will be displayed at Artribune's stand throughout miart. The project extends Leica's longstanding support for photographic culture, exemplified by the Oskar Barnack Award, which explores the human-environment relationship. Giada Triola, Communication Manager of Leica Camera Italia, stated that the brand aims to give visibility to talented young photographers passionate about Leica's values. The full photographic series will be shared daily on Artribune's social channels using the hashtag #givingpowertothepeople and later on the magazine's website.
