Lehmann Maupin Opens Temporary Milan Space in April

Lehmann Maupin, the gallery founded by Rachel Lehmann and David Maupin in New York in 1996, will open its first temporary Italian space in Milan in April 2024. The pop-up will be hosted at Circolo, a non-profit founded by collector Nicole Saikalis Bay at Via della Spiga 48, in the fashion district. The opening on April 12 will feature a group show with represented artists including Nari Ward, Hernan Bas, Todd Gray, and Mandy El-Sayegh. Ward will also have his first solo museum show at HangarBicocca starting March 28. The timing coincides with miart, Salone del Mobile, and the Venice Biennale opening, where Lehmann Maupin artist Kim Yun Shin is invited to participate in Adriano Pedrosa's curated exhibition 'Foreigners Everywhere.' Partner Jessica Kreps will oversee the Milan space, citing proximity to Venice as a factor. Lehmann Maupin already has permanent spaces in New York, Seoul, and London, and has previously operated pop-ups in Aspen, Palm Beach, Taipei, and Beijing.
