architecture-design · 2026-05-05

The Lego House, a new experience center in Billund, Denmark, is set to open on September 28, 2017. Designed by Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG), the building consists of 21 stacked volumes that mimic Lego bricks. Jesper Vilstrup, the facility's manager, stated that the brick is incorporated into the architecture in a simple yet ingenious way. The center will offer play and educational activities, brand history exhibits, three themed restaurants, a store, and outdoor play areas. Construction began in early 2014. To celebrate, Lego will release a 774-piece Architecture series kit of the building. Bjarke Ingels also recently unveiled a shared project for Google's new London campus, collaborating with Thomas Heatherwick's studio.
