Leftloft redesigns Oscar Mondadori book series
Leftloft, a design firm based in Milan and New York, has undertaken a rebranding initiative for Oscar Mondadori, Italy's foremost editorial catalog featuring over 4,500 titles, 28 series, and more than 1,200 authors. Renowned for collaborations with entities such as the New York Times and the Istanbul Biennial, the studio has developed a fresh visual identity. This redesign streamlines the iconic statuette, integrating it into a bold 'O' positioned at the top of book covers and spines. Additionally, Leftloft crafted a unique typeface for the word 'OSCAR' applicable across all series. The goal is to ensure the paperbacks are easily identifiable in bookstores, embodying a style that is 'pop and contemporary, transversal across genres and generations.' This follows last year's 50th anniversary celebration of Mondadori, during which IED students redesigned covers for ten classic works, including 'One Hundred Years of Solitude' and 'Animal Farm.'
