Lediesis: Anonymous Street Artists Behind Superwomen Series

Lediesis, an anonymous collective of female street artists, has gained national attention in Italy for their Superwomen series, which depicts iconic women with the Superman 'S' symbol. Their works appear on blind windows in historic centers of cities like Naples, Florence, Rome, and Milan, sparking treasure hunts among street art hunters. The collective has amassed nearly 13,000 Instagram followers and their images have been featured in newspapers and TV news. Their message encourages discovering inner superpowers and celebrates femininity in all its facets. Recently, they collaborated with the Fondazione Il Cuore si scioglie onlus for the #ilmomentoèadesso fundraising campaign. Currently, they have their first solo exhibition 'Superwomen – 8 Donne x 8 Città' at the Museo Archeologico Nazionale di Napoli until November 30, and are part of the group show 'Nature has Nature' at Galleria Uovo alla Pop in Livorno until September 20, 2020. Their latest work pays homage to Laika, the dog astronaut, placed near Campo dei Fiori in Rome. During lockdown, they created 8 Superblack pieces featuring symbols like the Statue of Liberty and Queen Elizabeth II to exorcise fear of COVID-19. They use acrylic on tissue paper, applying works at night in chosen locations. The collective plans to expand internationally after 'pollinating' major Italian cities.
