Lecce Hosts First Edition of Festival delle Letterature
The first edition of the Festival delle Letterature, organized by the Accademia delle Belle Arti di Lecce, runs from May 26 to 28 at its venue on via Libertini. Directed by writer Anilda Ibrahimi, the festival features book presentations, exhibitions, meetings, workshops, and concerts. Director Nunzio Fiore stated the choice of location aims to transform the academy into an incubator of ideas. The program includes the exhibition "Ucraina, una storia dolorosa" by French reporter Guillaume Herbaut, a photographic book presentation by Iranian author Fatimah Hossaini, and meetings with Afghan writer Atiq Rahimi, Anilda Ibrahimi reading from her book "Volevo essere Madame Bovary" with Sierra Ylmaz, and awards for an actress chosen by director Ferzan Ozpetek and screenwriter Ilaria Macchia. Other participants include Donatella Di Pietrantonio, finalist for the 2021 Premio Strega, and writers Valeria La Rocca and Chiara Tagliaferri. The festival also hosts workshops in graphics, engraving, photography, and screenwriting, and dedicates a section to social media and Booklovers to engage young readers.
