Leandre Clown's 'n'imPORTE quoi' Opens REF Kids & Family at Romaeuropa Festival

festival-fair · 2026-04-26

Leandre Clown, a Catalan artist with a decades-long career in live performance, opened the REF Kids & Family section of the Romaeuropa Festival with his show 'n'imPORTE quoi', staged from October 25 to 27, 2024. The performance begins with Leandre entering the auditorium carrying a door on his shoulder, while the audience—mostly children—is still buzzing. The set features numerous doors through which other clowns appear, creating comic and absurd situations through mime, gesture, and theater of the absurd. Each performer contributes to a sparkling atmosphere where every gesture has both comic and poetic undertones. Leandre started performing in the early 1990s, founding the company Leandre & Claire with Claire Ducreux. He is considered one of the best contemporary clowns internationally. The REF Kids & Family program continues from November 8 at the Mattatoio, featuring musical proposals from Dutch group Oorkaan with percussionists Slagwerk Den Haag and beatboxer B-Art, as well as Musica Impulscentrum. The BonteHond company presents 'Superslow', La Mècanica performs 'The Little Things', and Japanese choreographer Kenji Shinohe presents a show blending theater, contemporary dance, and technology addressing superficial communication. The program also includes workshops by Tombs Creatius and Puck cinema Caravan with animated short films.
