Le Slurm Exhibition at Liveln YourHead, Geneva

exhibition · 2026-04-23

From May 5 to June 4, 2011, Liveln YourHead in Geneva hosted 'Le Slurm,' an exhibition curated by Christophe Kihm and Marc-Olivier Wahler in collaboration with students from the Workmaster program at HEAD – Genève. The show takes its name from a fictional soda in the animated series Futurama, featuring a work by S. McEnzie that displays the last available specimen of the drink. The exhibition explores three key concepts: prestige (the third phase of a magic trick where the vanished object reappears), doubling, and transformation. It examines the production and perception of differences between originals and copies, sharpening critical viewing skills and questioning what to believe. Works draw from scientific data, such as Stéphane Arcas's 'Bodycount' on cell division, Shana Moulton's anthropological study of astrological beliefs, and Marie-Anne Elzingre's socio-psychological 'Chuckondes.' The interactions between prestige, doubling, and transformation extend into a decentering of reality, offering new intensities with the environment (Dominique Varene, Ryan Gander) and reconfiguring spacetime (Roman Kemper, Lars Magnus). The exhibition evokes magician Garcimore, who expressed doubts about his own tricks without revealing his methods.
