Le Printemps de Septembre Festival in Toulouse

festival-fair · 2026-04-23

The former Printemps de Cahors festival relocated to the Daurade district of Toulouse, occupying a comparable area but no longer operating citywide as it did in Cahors. The 2001 edition, titled "Théâtres du fantastique," ran from September 28 to October 14. Daytime exhibitions and nighttime events (video projections, urban interventions, concerts) were distinctly programmed. British curator Val Williams oversaw the exhibitions, while Stéphanie Moisdon curated the Visitors program. The festival featured around twenty exhibitions across three venues, exploring the boundary between reality and imagination, with digital photography enabling fantastical visions. Notable photographers included Ryuta Amae, Didier Massard, Katharina Bosse, Pierre Faure, Anna Gaskell, and Anneé Olofsson. Guest of honor David Lynch presented fragmented nude close-ups, which were compared to works by Ernestine Ruben and Ralph Gibson. Video works by Lars Siltberg, Ulf Lundin, Mario Rizzi, and Shimon Attie offered introspective moments, while the Visitors 1 program (Sylvie Fleury, Ugo Rondinone, Paul Smith, Mark Leckey) featured fast-paced films with soundtracks. The nighttime "Nuits blanches" included Maren Strack's performance "Latex."
