Le Musée passager brings art to Île-de-France towns
Le Musée passager, a mobile art project, will visit twenty-five towns in the Île-de-France region over four years starting in April 2014. Housed in a construction-site-like structure in front of the Basilica of Saint-Denis, it features contemporary, digital, and street art. Works include Bill Viola's Helena (2008), Elias Crespin's kinetic sculpture Circuconcéntricos Rouge Orange Transparente (2014), Yang Yongliang's animation Infinite Landscape (2012) critiquing Chinese urbanization, and Justine Emard's augmented reality installation Screencatcher (2011). The project is supported by the Île-de-France region and Ateliers Frédéric Laffy, aiming to reach audiences without regular access to art. It also includes performances, concerts, and local cultural mediation. Critic Annick Bureaud notes functional issues with video tables due to ambient light but finds the overall concept appealing.
