Le Mois de la Photo Montréal 2011 Explores Lucidity Across 14 Venues

festival-fair · 2026-04-23

From September 8 to October 9, 2011, Montréal will host the Le Mois de la Photo, curated by Anne-Marie Ninacs, which centers on the theme of lucidity. This edition showcases 25 contemporary artists through solo exhibitions at 14 different venues, with the Arsenal center serving as the main location. Ninacs delves into philosophical questions regarding vision and consciousness, prompting reflections on the limits of knowledge. The program explores various issues, including phenomenological, psychological, social, and political aspects. At the Arsenal, themes of lucidity are examined through perceptual revelations and psychic obscurity. Featured artists include Corine Lemieux, Rinko Kawauchi, Douglas Gordon, Jack Burnam, and Roger Ballen, while the sub-theme 'Vues de l'intérieur' emphasizes self-portraiture, showcasing works by Cristina Nuñez and Kimsooja, along with contributions from international artists from China, Colombia, and Switzerland.
