Le Grand Bercail House in Quebec Blends Contemporary Design with Natural Environment
Finished in 2023, Le Grand Bercail is a modern residence located in Cap-à-l'Aigle, Quebec, crafted by L. McComber. Spanning 2,800 square feet, this home boasts a striking metal roof and a spacious gallery that overlooks the river. Its thoughtful design harnesses solar energy during the winter while extensive roof overhangs help keep the interior cool during summer heatwaves. Surrounded by trees and featuring a color scheme inspired by the boreal forest, the house exudes a classic charm. The project was led by architect Laurent McComber, with key contributions from Olivier Lord, Olivier Lauzon, and Maryse Allard. Structural engineering was provided by Poincaré Experts-Conseils Inc, and general contracting was managed by Art Évolution inc. Ulysse Lemerise, through OSA images, captured the photography, while materials were sourced from various suppliers, including Entrepôt du cèdre and Granite au sommet. The curation was overseen by Hana Abdel.
