Le Città del Futuro talks bring artists and sustainability to Porto Ercole
Associazione Arte Continua, the non-profit arm of Galleria Continua, has launched a new talk series titled 'Le Città del Futuro – Arte, tradizione, innovazione e scienza' in the Orto Botanico Corsini of Porto Ercole, Grosseto. The series, curated by Galleria Continua co-founder Mario Cristiani, features dialogues between international contemporary artists and authoritative figures on sustainable development and community-oriented living. Participants include Carsten Höller, who discussed his project linked to the Parco del Pollino; Mimmo Paladino, presenting his film 'La divina cometa' shot between Campania and Puglia; Stefano Mancuso, speaking on urban reforestation linked to a future intervention in Prato; and Loris Cecchini, reflecting on the circular economy in the relationship between organic and inorganic based on his recent project at the Osservatorio Polifunzionale del Chianti. The talks are part of the broader summer event 'Notturni dell’arte' and involve donations of artworks to the territory. Cristiani emphasized the long-term environmental perspective, contrasting it with immediate consumerism, and noted that such cultural investment should be normal, not exceptional. The series echoes previous interventions like Antony Gormley's in Piazza Duomo in Prato and talks at the Triennale di Milano.
