« Le Château d’Orgon »: A Satirical Comedy at Studio Hébertot
At Studio Hébertot in Paris, eight young actors perform a biting comedy written by Guillaume Gallix, inspired by Molière and Goldoni. The play follows Jacques-Henri, a widowed father and owner of a lavish estate in southeastern France, who announces his marriage to Capucine, a young actress thirty years his junior, who is an activist for ecology, feminism, and humanitarian causes. His daughter opposes the union, fearing loss of inheritance, while his son Charles-Henri is attracted to the bride. The satire skewers contemporary clichés of political correctness, greenwashing, and startup culture, with characters reminiscent of Orgon and Tartuffe, or Goldoni's vain marquises. Directed by Julien Gallix, the production features reality-TV-inspired set design, kitschy costumes, and performances blending commedia dell'arte with Rabelaisian extravagance. The play runs at Studio Hébertot, with photography by Paul Desveaux.
