LCCA Hosts Workshop on Archival Practices in the Baltics
Mark your calendar for April 23 at 18:00! The Latvian Centre for Contemporary Art (LCCA) is hosting a workshop discussion called “Contemporary Archival Practices” at their archive and library on 13 Alberta Street in Riga. This event is part of the “Safety Zones and Shifting Timelines” series curated by Andra Silapētere, exploring the ties between archives, collective memory, and the changing political landscape in the Baltic region. Eglė Juocevičiūtė, an art historian from the Lithuanian National Gallery, along with the editors of MOST magazine—Ewa Borysiewicz, Vera Zalutskaya, and Katie Zazenski—will participate. They’ll discuss how both formal and informal archives shape cultural memory in Eastern Europe, touching on topics like decolonization. The series features artist interventions by Luīze Rukšāne, Rūdolfs Štamers, and Sabīne Šnē until September 30, 2026. The LCCA archive, which started as the Soros Center for Contemporary Art in 1993, has been crucial for documenting Latvian contemporary art since the 1960s.
